We all worry when we have to stay home because we’re sick. We worry about what’s happening in the classroom. Substitute teachers have a tough job. It’s often not possible for them to carry on with your regularly scheduled lesson plans. I’ve created 10 emergency sub plans for the ELA classroom. These lesson plans are meant to be completed all on one page. There’s no prep except for making copies ahead of time and keep them in your sub folder or binder. All the substitute teacher has to do is pass them out and supervise. These engaging lesson plans are meant to take about 55 minutes if students are putting forth effort. You can have the substitute teacher collect them at the end of the period, or you can simply check for completion upon your return.
There are 5 lessons that do not require any technology at all, and there are 5 that require student internet access.
